According to Dr. Neal Barnard, the plant-based vegan prevents, cures and reverses disease!

Can that possibly be true? Do fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and beans really have that kind of power?  Our lifestyles and our diets may be drastically different as some of us are vegans while others are vegetarians or meat-eaters. But we all share something very significant – each one of us wants to be healthy and enjoy a long, vibrant life.

With that in mind, we have to take an occasional pause from our daily activities to closely examine the food choices we make by asking ourselves a number of imperative questions and then by answering them with truthful candor. Doing that will reveal whether we choose to eat the foods that we do every day because we have acquired accurately factual knowledge and gained clear understanding or whether such choices are based on cultural, familial, peer, media or industrial pressures. In other words, we need to discern whether our choices are based on rational thinking or on emotional reactions resulting from external forces.

What does all that have to do with the topic at hand? Well, a lot! The fact of the matter is that too many people choose to eat animal-based (meat, dairy, eggs, etc.) foods because they have grown up in families where such foods have always been eaten, because they have always been told that these are the foods that their bodies need, because they are conveniently available and because they have never stopped to wonder whether these foods are actually good for them. Referring specifically to beef products, Dr. Neal Barnard who is a renown clinical researcher, a best-selling author, a health advocate and an avid supporter of the plant-based vegan diet, has been quoted as saying that “the beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters & all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of ‘real food for real people’ you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.” Neal BarnardThis statement by Dr. Barnard may sound rather radical to many of you but it’s based on thorough and intensive research and the scientific proof that it generated. In conjunction with the Georgetown University, Dr. Barnard has conducted clinical trials on the effects of the vegan diet in subjects suffering from type 2 diabetes. He also conducted studies which were funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on other types of diabetes. Under the sponsorship of the George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Barnard studied the effects of plant-based diets on premenstrual and menstrual symptoms as well as weight loss in women who had entered their postmenopausal stages of life. The above studies have shown indisputable evidence that attests to the fact that individuals who eat plants rather than animal products have much fewer incidents of the different types of diabetes and suffer fewer and milder symptoms related to natural hormonal changes in women of all ages. But more than that, vegan diets have also reversed existing symptoms in diabetics and women who have been struggling with premenstrual, menstrual and postmenopausal difficulties. As part of his work, Dr. Neal Barnard has also found that the vegan diet is instrumental in weight loss efforts, promoting healthy hearts and cardiovascular systems, regulating digestion and the kidneys, curtails the onset of Alzheimer’s and much more.
