Humane animal rescue is an endeavor that is close to the heart of many vegans. Whether the humane animal rescue program is simply sheltering abandoned or stray animals until suitable homes can be found or is pulling animals out of natural disasters like a hurricane such as Katrina or avalanches of ice, this work is important.
The BBC has recorded some of these rescues on film and video, each rescue making an arresting story. Whether it is an orphaned puppy or stranded whales, to see such dramatic and moving incidents can do more than merely please the audience. Part of their impact is to inspire the viewer to want to share in the job of protection for domestic animals and for wildlife.
Edmonton, Alberta in Canada is fortunate to have several such organizations. One humane animal rescue society there is Safe Haven Animals Rescue Edmonton Society (S.H.A.R.E.S), a non-profit rescue organization. Humane animal rescue Edmonton also is undertaken by the Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) and the Edmonton Humane Society.
There is a plethora of names that a humane animal rescue team may call itself. Some use the acronym HARPS and others use HART. Such groups can be found downtown or out in the lower rent districts of cities and towns in California, Arkansas, and many other states, including IL. Some devote their work to pulling stray animals out of shelters before they are scheduled to be killed. Caught as strays or abandoned by owners who can no longer afford to keep them, each animal deserves rescue.
A humane animal rescue team CA that is very well known is located in Fillmore, a setting that is extremely active in this work. Fortunately, a search for humane animal rescue team California can find many a humane animal rescue team. As an example, Eldad and Audrey Hagar are residents of Los Angeles who have rescued animals for many years.
The efforts of the humane animal rescue team Chattanooga, TN, humane animal rescue team Texas, and especially the HART, the Animal Rescue Team Irving, TX accomplish important work and deserve support from vegans and others who care about animal welfare. We must be in league with such groups.
Any humane animal rescue team society deserves vegan backers. Many vegans adopt rescued pets. Not everyone can take an abused horse, but anyone who has a large space in a city that would permit a horse should consider doing this. If someone has a farm appropriate for these amazing larger animals including those that are hooved such as cows, such actions would greatly relieve the burden on these organizations.
Much effort goes on internationally. The International Fund for Animal Welfare is known as IFAW. It is dedicated to saving one animal at a time, the habitats that animals need to survive, and it tries to protect whole species from extinction.
Human animal rescue is something that human society owes to animals. At least that is the opinion of this vegan as well as many other vegetarians and vegans. Not everyone can adopt an animal or join in rescue efforts, but most of us can make some contribution of money and time.
I am ever so thankful for the compassionate teams of individuals who work in humane animal rescue organization because they help save many, many lives.
